NASCAR Events Shows Unique Advertising Opportunities

April 8th, 2010 · No Comments

Advertising is one of the most cluttered in all areas in the world. These promotional tricks are seen and heard anywhere you go.  No business can go on successfully with what they do without setting aside cost just to advertise what they can bring to people.  Since there are a number of people potential as buyers, any kind of business are finding ways to advertise, hence a clutter is created.  As consequence, this will make your products and services identical with the others. The technique is to make your products and services unique and stand out from the rest to entice your market and make your brand the number one priority in their list.

Most products and services are promoted in traditional advertisements. Commercials are aired more than the regular shows in local TVs, radios and newspapers. How important is advertisement? Through advertising, we can tap our out-of-the-way potential target markets. Most of these traditional ways of promoting are successful hence there is overcrowding.

So, how then can we advertise that will really make people remember what we offer? With a lot of technological enhancement and doing almost anything, Aerial Advertisement is introduced. The method of this advertisement is by launching an airplane in the sky with your banner towing from behind exposing it to a great number of people below. It is very simple as well as cost-effective since most payment terms in such advertisement starts from the time the airplane launched until it lands back. If done in the right place and time, this kind of advertisement is very effective.

Having an event or special occasions makes these advertisements busy as bees. It is when a number of people gather in one place to enjoy one special day. The most popular event in the United States that can gather thousands is the NASCAR or the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing sponsored events. One of the biggest crowds is seen in his great event all over the world. By flying your ads up over the NASCAR sponsored car race will attract much attention by spectators below. In addition, knowing that these great events are flocked by numerous spectators, more can be aware of what you can offer to them. Furthermore, aerial advertisement is an attention-grabber and very fresh hence can instill in the minds of those who saw.

In conclusion, advertising is a great help in generating more people to buy what you offer. Finding the best advertising technique is a greater help. One thing to remember is to perform them in the right way.

AirSign has been providing professional aerial advertising at racing events since 1996. Check the NASCAR calendar on their site for opportunities in the area you’re interested in.

Aerial Ads Take Advantage of the Spring Break Audience

March 3rd, 2010 · No Comments

Every March the beaches of the south, especially Florida and Texas, are flooded with students who feel they well deserve a break from the books.  An estimated 2.5 to 3 million will be basking in the sun this year.  They have money to spend now, and a potential to spend another $125-$130 billion dollars during the year. Where they spend that money will depend on how effective advertising is directed at them.

One of the most effective forms of advertising to these students is arial banner or billboard advertising.  Aerial advertising is well known.  A company or individual pays an aerial ad company to both make and pull behind a plane a banner containing their message. The banner could be as long as 70 feet and will usually contain contact information such as a phone number or webpage. (Billboards are simply highway billboards flown overhead.)  Most merchants subscribe to a flight duration of one to two hours.  Each pass allows about 17 seconds of viewing time.  How many times could they potentially read your ad during an hour of passes? By the time an hour is up, your message will be imprinted in their brains.

Students are relaxing and mentally open during spring break week.  They have money to spend during this week of vacation.  As they lie on the beach, the drone of a plane catches their attention.  They look up and see your ad pulled behind the plane. You have just risen to the top of the competition for whatever you are advertising to them.

The aerial ads could offer something they may want to buy when they get back to college.  On the other hand, many of the ads are for items they will need immediately, like ads for restaurants or clothing. Here is a wonderful chance to impact one of the largest gatherings of impulsive buyers during the whole year.

Many advertisers are cutting back now because the economy is in shambles and unemployment is high. Yet, here is the opportunity that should not be overlooked.  The spring break students aren’t thinking about the economy or even the future.  They just want to have some fun, regardless of the cost. One tourism expert from Florida calls them “recession-proof” because the students consider it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and you can’t put a price tag on that!

Electronic communication makes it even better.  One merchant says he has his phone number on the banner and, almost immediately, he is being texted with orders.  Others use G3 networks to connect to the Internet for orders. The banner is quickly paid for and profits come rolling in.

Aerial ads have another advantage: they are timeless.  You will pay the full cost for the banner ad this year. When it is over, the banner can be stored and used again next year.  Or, with some products, you could fly it over another beach or sporting event. The banners are well made and will last a long time.

Many are pessimistic about advertising while the economy is low. But wise businesses will want to take advantage of the spring break students and, those who do, will probably make a sizeable profit through aerial advertising.

AirSign has been providing attention grabbing aerial ads through their aerial advertising services around hot vacation destinations since 1996. Call them at 888-645-3442 and ask them to fly your message. It will not be forgotten.

Unexpected Ways to Enter Engagement

February 11th, 2010 · No Comments

How did you say, “Will you marry me?” to your sweetheart? Probably it was not as unique as some of these ways. But if you are waiting for the right moment and right way, maybe these will give you some creative ideas! We have avoided the really expensive or bizarre ways and stuck to real possibilities.

If you like extreme sports, sky’s the limit for ideas. A couple reached the top of a mountain ready to ski down. Just as they were ready to begin, he proposed and she accepted. They both experienced a double rush! A skydiving couple was engaged through a hidden sign and a nod as they sped toward the ground.

A TV game show winner suddenly turned to the audience and proposed to his girlfriend. The nation wide publicity made it hard for her to refuse. Another fellow arranged with a movie theater to help him. When the movie the couple was attending ended, a message flashed onto the scream, “Sarah, will you marry me? –Charlie”. After recovering from the shock, she accepted.

One fellow arranged for the neighbors in the apartment across the street to help. At a preset time, they flashed their lights off and on spelling out the proposal in code. Another girl was led to believe her boyfriend was miles away. She attended a preplanned scavenger hunt. The last item on her list led her to where he was hiding and, surprise, he proposed.

A bold girl got tired of waiting for her boyfriend to make the decision. So when they were on a date, she said, “Darling, you know if you would ask me to marry you, I’d say yes in a minute!” . If that seems a bit too bold, maybe you could just drop a hint or two, like, “If you need any money for a ring or anything, let me know,” or “I’ve been practicing saying my new last name after we’re married”

Sam took his honey to a plush restaurant. She anticipated his asking the big question but the entire meal was filled with (comparatively) trivial talk. Finally the meal was over and he asked for the bill. There, on the bill tray sat the engagement ring. He took it, fell to his knees and turned her disappointment to joy.

One man purchased a small book that was filled with love poems. After page four, he glued all the rest of the pages together, then cut out a heart shaped hole in it. She read the first poems, then turned the page only to find herself face to face with an engagement ring! Allowing time for shock to set in, he then took it and asked her the big question!

Use of the media is particularly effective. A man took out a full-page ad in a section of the newspaper he knew his girl would see. When she turned the page and read it, he had the ring right there. This also provided her a souvenir of the memorable day.

Speaking of media, a man rented a billboard along a route he knew his girl would travel, and paid for the proposal to be displayed on it. If you can be in the car with her, have the ring handy; if not, try timing a call to her cell phone as she passes the display. You might even be standing by the road, pointing at it with a ring box in the other hand!

Two ideas that get top marks include the help of an airplane. Have a firm sky write your proposal in the sky over an area where she will be A very memorable alternate is to have a banner made and flown over the area. If you can be with her, be sure to have the ring hidden but handy.

Entering into marriage is a serious step in life and pursued soberly. But that doesn’t mean you cannot be creative in the way you ask her to join you for life. Why not make it an event you will both remember throughout your lifetime together?

AirSign has been providing creative skywriting and aerial banner messages around special occasions since 1996. Call them at 888-645-3442 and ask them to fly your message. It will be unforgettable.

Advertising Through Curiosity

February 4th, 2010 · No Comments

Americans are bombarded with advertising in every part of life. They go to a movie and are given ads for more movies. They watch TV and find nearly as much time is spent on the ads as on the programs. They drive down the street and see billboards and shop signs. They read the news and find it surrounded with appeals to get their money.

Advertisers face a daunting task of finding a way to get their ad past the mental block set up by consumers. How do you get consumers to see your ad among so many others? One effective method used is by building curiosity with sights and sounds.

Sounds often involve music. Many TV ads include some type of mood setting designed to make you at least watch the ad. Other types of sounds also build curiosity and attract attention. The Superman serials on TV in the 50’s were popular with kids partly because of the air sound as the hero landed or took off.

Visual curiosity is also used. The newest model of a car is covered with a cloth to build curiosity. Women are used in ads because in general they attract the attention of male consumers. Movie trailers use a collage of clips to titillate the interest and make people so curious that they won’t miss the full show.

Using both sight and sound will give a greater advantage to an ad. The more senses that are addressed, the more likely it is that the consumer will notice. Yet, this becomes normal if everyone is doing it and again your ad is lost in the crowd.

One form of advertising uses sights and sounds to build curiosity, and eliminates the competition, all at the same time. This method is called banner ads. A long banner or a billboard is pulled behind an airplane over a large congregation of people. Since no other ads are in sight on a beach or music festival, the ad has the full attention of the audience.

Imagine you are sitting on a beach, enjoying the sun when in the distance you hear the drone of an airplane. You have time and interest so you look up to check it out. Coming toward you is a single engine plane pulling a banner with a message written on it. Your curiosity rises. What does it say? You watch with anticipation until you can read the message and you probably do this several times in the 17 seconds it passes.

The plane disappears but in a few minutes it passes by again and you read it a second time. By the third time this happens you have the message memorized and after that, the sound of the plane along causes you to recite the message in your mind.

The advertiser has reached his goal. He has built your curiosity, used sights and sounds to present you the message, and repeated it without competition for attention until it was fixed in your memory. And no competitors could get a word in edgewise during that time. If his product or service is of use to you, it is pretty sure that his name will be your first choice.

Make Your Valentine’s Day Memorable with Aerial Banners

January 27th, 2010 · No Comments

It was not love at first sight, but after six months of going together, Tom was sure that Jenny was the girl with whom he wanted to spend his life. He was pretty confident she would say ‘yes’ when he popped the question but wanted to do it in a way that be memorable, no matter what the cost.

So Tom called a banner tow company and told them he wanted a banner that read, “Jenny, will you marry me? – Tom.” His family reunion was the second Saturday in July so he planned on this spectacular proposal while the family was there to witness it. His only other responsibility was to be sure Jenny was at the reunion and that she was outside when the message flew overhead. It goes without saying that, not only she, but the whole family was impressed!

You only celebrate your parents’ 50th anniversary once, and the Williamson family managed to coordinate their busy schedules to be together for the special day. Memories were shared, songs were sung, favorite jokes were told, and the food was delicious. As a grand finale, at exactly 3:00 pm, the children took their parents to the back yard and looked up as a plane flew by towing an aerial billboard that read, “Dad and Mom Williamson, you are loved!” The entire community knew that was true.

Many people are exchanging a few dollars for the lasting memories a surprise banner message overhead brings. Imagine using an aerial banner to celebrate a key birthday, to welcome home a child from the military, or to recognize an honor someone received!

If you look for a banner ad company online, you will probably get websites dealing with computer banner ads. There is no resemblance. An aerial ad or message is a long streamer that is pulled behind an airplane over a large group of people. They often appear at beaches or at athletic events. Taking the same concept, and seeking help from the same company, a banner message is saying to the public what you would like them to know about someone you love.

An aerial message as described above is simple. Think of a sentence or few words that would express what you want to convey. Then contact an aerial advertising company and present your idea. They will have suggestions to make it just right. The company will do all the work and fly the message where you want it displayed. In some areas more than one company has this service so investigate to find out what is right for you.

By the way, remember Tom and Jenny? Jenny’s reply was, “Oh, Tom, I do love you but give me a week to think it over and talk with my parents, and I’ll give you my answer then.” Sure both Tom and his family were disappointed but they appreciated her mature approach to such an important decision. Little did he or they know what she was planning. The next Saturday, another banner flew overhead, right on time and at the right location. It read, “Yes! – Jenny”

How Are Aerial Ads Launched?

January 15th, 2010 · No Comments

Have you ever been at a large gathering somewhere, like a sporting event or a beach, and seen an airplane fly by pulling an announcement or an advertisement of some type? These ads or messages are called aerial advertising , and have proven to be an effective way to get a message out to a large group quickly.

Getting this banner into the air is no easy trick. If it were attached to the plane before take off, then it could be damaged dragging it along the runway. This would also cause drag, making take off more difficult.

It takes a plan, good quality materials, and a skillful pilot to make this happen. First, the airplane takes off without the aerial banner, but with a device called a “grapnel hook.” This is attached to the tail of the plane but the hook end is hanging in the pilot’s window.

Once the airplane is airborne, the pilot releases the hook from his window and lets it fall. The hook falls below the plane and is ready for the next part. Meanwhile, on the ground the banner is folded up, but it has a lead pole attached to the front. A harness is attached to that and a pick up rope to that. Finally a loop of rope connected to the lead rope is draped between two poles about five or six feet off the ground.

Now the plane with the hook below flies low over the area where the banner’s loop of rope is stretched between the poles. He is hoping to snag the loop with his hook, pulling the banner into the sky. At the moment he reaches the pick up area, he throttles the engine and pulls back on the stick, and the plane soars upward at a steep angle. The hook drags over the loop snagging it. This pulls the banner off the ground and into the sky without dragging it on the ground. And what if his hook misses? He will circle around and try again.

How do they keep the banner straight and not acting like a spiraling kite? The bottom of the banner is weighted so that it is always down. The end of it also has tiny parachutes that keep it stretched out. Banners could be up to fifty letters long and when you consider the letters are seven feet tall, that is a long banner to pull! It takes skill and practice to do it just right.

When the pilot has completed his mission over the designated area, he will fly the banner back to the drop off place, fly low again, and, release the hook so the banner falls to the ground unharmed. This way it is reusable if that is appropriate.

Larger planes are able to actually pull the banner with them on takeoff without damaging it, but most single engine prop planes use the plan outlined above to get the banner into the air.

All this may seem like a lot of trouble, but the result is worth the effort. Thousands will see the banner, both at the event and on the way to and from it. The message will get out and people will be influenced by the message. But not all aerial advertising companies are alike. Some simply take an order and contract it out. Since 1996, AirSign has been leading the industry by taking personal care of their customers using the best pilots, sharpest looking planes, and providing accountability for their work through free GPS tracking. Give them a call and find out what they can do for you!

Aerial Ads with Balloons

January 15th, 2010 · No Comments

Putting an ad in the sky has become a very successful means of quickly getting a message across to a local group of people. You have probably seen a banner pulled behind a single engine plane over a beach or sporting event. The banner will tell of a product, a service, or a sporting event. Curiosity will cause people to investigate further.

Besides a long banner pulled behind a plane, others market their product by making a billboard and hiring a plane to pull that over the crowd. Some even pull an aerial banner behind a billboard. Another option is to use a helicopter to pull a banner. Though more expensive, helicopters can pull much larger banners and billboards than single engine planes can.

Helium balloons attract attention when they are attached to a store or shop. People will drive over to see what is so important. When the ad leaves the ground, it is sometimes attached to a hot air balloon, or blimp. A few companies, like Goodyear, have made blimps the hallmark of their advertising and have become famous doing it. However, this is usually very expensive and probably cost prohibitive to most companies.

Another variation of this is remote controlled balloons that either advertise on the side, or carry an advertisement below them. These balloons are not lighter than air vehicles since they have to come down. Being unmanned means they can be much smaller for the balloons don’t have to lift the weight of a pilot.

The balloon runs off the power of a small electric motor and an pusher prop. The angle of the propeller is adjusted by the remote control transmitter. When the propeller goes up, the rear of the balloon goes down and balloon rises, and vice versa. Left and right controls work the same. It resembles a slow moving model plane. If this remote controlled balloon displays an advertisement, the controller can make it pass safely over a group of people as many times as he likes, then land it at his feet.

How large are these remote controlled balloons? The size varies from about six feet to nearly twenty feet. Without the fuss of helium or hot air, launching them is safe and inexpensive. Naturally wind could cancel a flight since controlling them is very delicate.

How much would this type of advertising cost? A probably typical estimate for six foot balloons displaying a company sign or logo is about 1500 dollars. Larger sizes go from 4000 dollars for a thirteen foot, to 7000 dollars for a seventeen foot. Since a pilot is not needed for this type of ad, the owner can fly it any time he wants, that is, when the weather permits.

If you want to target your message effectively, it is time to get in touch with an airplane banner company and get it printed and into the air. It won’t take long before your well planned message will be read by thousands and the result in sales will follow.

Aerial Billboards Demand Attention

January 13th, 2010 · No Comments

Several years ago my family and I drove through Canada on business. I was immediately struck by the absence of billboards along the roads. At first it was pleasantly pristine. But after a while, I found I missed the information they gave as I traveled.

We all know what billboards are, huge signs supported by a structure mounted on some rented piece of property like a farmer’s field. The more traffic on the highway, the better. The billboard will hopefully grab the attention of passers by. But imagine this: the billboard flies off the stand and floats over a huge crowd of people who all look up and read it. That is not fanciful; it is the essence of advertising using an aerial billboard.
Though the size and message of an aerial billboard may be the same as that of roadside billboards, there are differences. The stationary roadside billboard hopes to be read by moving people; the moving aerial billboard will be read by stationary people. Also the roadside billboard will probably be read by a fraction of the travelers going by. The aerial billboard, on the other hand, will be read by virtually everyone in its viewing path. The roadside billboard may be viewed by thousands over a traveling season; an aerial billboard will be viewed by thousands in a matter of minutes.

The aerial billboard is not a banner though a streaming banner is sometimes dragged behind the billboard to give an additional message. Most aerial billboards are made of nylon. Some are dyed with a sun inhibitor for protection while others are painted. Aerial billboards could be as large as 50 feet tall and 100 feet long! The message they display may be the name of a product, a photo, a logo, or just about any message you see on a roadside billboard.

This huge billboard is supported in the front by a lead pole and weighted on the bottom so it stays upright. A bridle is attached to the lead pole and that attached to a 250 feet rope. The pilot gets airborne, then circles around and tries to hook a loop of rope attached to two poles. This loop is fastened to the tow rope. The hook is attached to the bottom of the plane. As the pilot passes over the banner and catches it, he immediately banks upward, causing the billboard to be pulled upward, away from the ground.

Though lightweight, the billboard is still a hefty drag for a small plane. At times winds will ground it, or keep them from being able to add the additional banner message at the end. When he is finished, the pilot gently drops the billboard at the designated place where it can be stored and used again.

The size and shape of the message trailing behind the plane is the only real difference between an aerial banner and an aerial billboard. Clients might include restaurants, products, special events, ordinary people with congratulatory messages, wedding proposals, directions, information like a web page where they can get further details, special sales, local businesses, movie promotions, and many others. Billboard messages include just about anything people want to get to the word out about.
What is the cost for a billboard ad like this? That varies with locations and flying companies. On the average plan on 0 to 0 an hour for towing time and about 00 and up for the billboard or banner. Often companies offer aerial advertising packages for the banner and display together. Perhaps this seems like a lot of money. It isn’t if you consider the revenue that the message will bring in because thousands of people saw your message in one day.

How to Design Your Aerial Advertising Ads

June 25th, 2009 · No Comments

What is an aerial ad? It is simply a long banner containing a message that is then flown over a crowd to convey that message randomly to them. Aerial banner advertising is a very popular way to tell of new stores or restaurants, to remind people of established businesses, or to promote political candidates. Banner ads have been proven effective as a relatively low cost high impact means of advertising. The message is virtually uncontested as it grabs the attention of a large audience and repeats the message many times as the plane flies over the crowd. The cost per contact is unparalleled in the retail world of advertising.

These factors are all equal: the ad has a captured audience, no competition, the plane drawing attention to the message, and repetition. All the messages are also brief. The fly-by time is only 17 seconds. What factors make a good banner ad?

Several factors make up a good banner ad. The advertiser has a goal in mind and the brief message must reach that goal. The message must be catchy, readable, attractive, and it must be easy to remember. Your job then is to plan a message that at once conveys what you want to say in few words and is easy to remember.

Here is a poem that has helped many people plan: There are six honest serving men Who taught me all I knew. Their names are what and when and why And how and where and who. Note that some of the six question words above will not need to be answered on the banner. Sometimes too much information is needed to include on a banner so the banner merely tells of a phone number or web address where more information is available.

Short messages are harder to write than long ones. A well worded slogan or ad is worth all the effort you put into creating it.

Aerial Advertising Action Plan

June 10th, 2009 · No Comments

If you’re unsure how to promote your product, consider aerial advertising. Usually a long banner trails behind a small plane flying over a crowd of people. The sound of the plane signals the people to look up and read the message as it goes by. Even the excitement of a home run at a ball park cannot compete with the attention grabbing of this banner.

Aerial advertising has been used to promote a business, a particular product, or even to propose marriage. It is a quick way to reach a large select audience with a message that is almost guaranteed to be read. The key is a well designed message that is easy to remember.

First, it is good to talk to a design team about your message. Share with them what you are trying to convey. What is the goal desired? How can this goal be achieved in a few words?  As you meet with the designers, be prepared to change your ideas as you talk it through. They are the experts and often have suggestions based on their experience that will make it the most effective possible.

The second step is to express the goal you have established in a message. The message may be long (some airplane banners are over 100 feet) or it may simply convey information about the location of further information, such as a website. Even a logo, if well known, can convey the message desired.

The next step is to determine when and where the message of the banner will best be displayed. A message to tune into a certain radio station would be effective when flown over  rush hour traffic. Messages in this manner have been displayed at fair grounds, beaches, concerts, anywhere a large group is assembled out of doors.

Determine of you want to design the banner yourself or have an expert do it for you. Of course, you can save some cost by doing it yourself but don’t let this be the only factor. The message must be attractive and easy to remember to be effective.

A company may be gun shy about paying out the money for an ad that is only visible for 17 seconds. First, consider that this is much longer than people normally look at printed ads and much less expensive than TV ads. Second, remember that the plane flies over an area numerous times so the message will become almost boring by the time the plane disappears for good. Third, remember that your ad has no competition! It’s the only one in the sky at that moment so it gets 100% of the attention of the consumers.

You have a product, a design, and a time, and place. It is time to commit yourself to give it a try and see what happens. If the banner has been done well, it will normally pay for itself in increased revenue.

Aerial advertising prices are competitive so shop around. The Internet is a great source of contacts. Consider the amount of guaranteed time the banner is flown as well as the cost of designing the banner. Remember that banners are reusable at different times or different locations. Aerial advertising may be just the thing your business needs to get it off the ground.
