Where to Find Solar Cells To Build a Solar Panel

How many cells you need will depend on the size of solar panel you are going to build. If you don’t want to pay full price for your solar cells you can try a local company who repairs solar equipment or try eBay. There are many companies who use solar cells to power road signs, their signs suffer from wear and tear and are chucked in the skip. The good news is that the solar cells work fine and just need a bit of TLC.

Strong Plywood

The frame of your solar panel is made from this sheet of plywood. When selecting your plywood, pick the flattest boards as will make life a lot easier. We will be treating the plywood later to make sure it doesn’t rot when left outside to the elements.

Soft or Preferably Hard Wood

If you get a piece of 2″x1″ and cut a rebate this will make a good frame to keep the flexible-glass in place. Hardwood is best but whatever wood you get , we will protect it with UV paint.

Flexi-Glass

Flexi- glass is used to protect the solar cells and all the electrical wiring. Some people like to use special glass that has the ability to collect infrared light. This is expensive but it will make your solar panel more efficient as the infrared feature will allow you to convert the suns energy in cloudy conditions.

Solder Tabbing Wire

The soldering or tabbing wire, connects the solar cells together either in series or parallel and caries the current to the copper wire. Tabbing wire is made from tin, it is very plyable and has a low melting point.

Silicone Gun

Silicon is used to make the solar panel water tight by filling the gap between the flexi glass and the wooden frame. It is also used to hold the solar cells in place.

Solder

You use solder to connect the copper wires together. The solar cells produce the current, and this current is then carried from the solar panel to your home and connecting to the inverter or batteries depending on which system you have employed. Should the tin tabbing wire not stay in place, the solder can be applied to stick it back down again.

Flux

A flux pen is used to assist the tabbing wire to stick to the solar cells. You run the pen over the area where you want the wire to be assembled and then with the aid of a soldering iron, the tabbing wire is secured in position.

UV Protector

To give your solar panel assembly as longer life as possible, it is recommended that the frame which holds the flexible-glass in place and the plywood be given a coating of UV protection.

Volt Meter

To check the output of each solar cell you connect the volt meter to it and then position the solar cell directly in the sun. The output increases as you add more solar cells.

Various Recreational Vehicle Solar Panel Selections For You To Ponder

August 5th, 2009 · No Comments

An RV (recreational vehicle) does not restrict you — you have the total freedom to go wherever your fancy takes you. In principle you can go anywhere you please, but the reality is that your need for electricity limits you to certain camp sites.

Even with your appliances powered by batteries, they are naturally going to run out of juice and require recharging; and note that this will happen more frequently than you had expected. Just a word to the wise: the battery’s lifespan will be negatively impacted if the battery is constantly being drained. On-board generators are found on most RV’s, however, they have a tendency to emit pollution and be extremely noisy. But there’s a choice available which will give you true adaptability to go where you would like.

You can own a RV, and not be conscious of the solar panel solutions that are open to you. One of the advantages of installing an RV solar panel is that it may be able to produce electricity in remote locations. For example, you travel in your automobile to the middle of Yellow Stone National Park, when you get there you will have a way of generating electricity from solar panels without polluting the environment. Dependent on how much output of power is required, the cost of RV kits can be between $400 to $1000. There are a variety of options in RV solar cell panels, including starter kits and RV solar panel extensions, which can be added to the current RV solar electricity system and you can how to build a solar panel.

Fixing RV panels to the roof is the most common way to connect them. This is done by using mounts, which screw into your RV roof.

The drawback to this strategy is that you have got to drill holes into your automobile, which can turn out to be a tough job unless you are experienced in this field but if you are experienced then it be worth learning how to build a solar panel as well.

A mobile RV solar panel electricity kit is another choice open to you, instead of roof mounted solar panels. The problem with this option is the storage space required, not to mention the assembly time when you arrive where you’re going.

Mobile solar panels can easily be stored away if they fold up, and they are usually very lightweight so they are easy to move around as well. A single 4ft x two ft solar panel will generate about 75 to a hundred watts, which is about the same as two golfing cart batteries. This would most likely be sufficient for a characteristic 24ft RV but it would rely, naturally, on your private electric necessities.

Maybe start with two solar panels, and fit some more as required. This is where you can get more information, on how to accomplish this how to build a solar panel.

This option is more advantageous for many reasons; the main justification being that there is no need to damage the roof of your RV with drill holes, keeping the RV’s resale value intact.

Solar Panels Produced For the Sharp Consumer

One of the main issues with solar electricity is the ability to pick up the energy of the sun and at the same time as having a solar panel which is pleasing to the eye of the folk around you. You have, without a doubt, viewed solar homes, that appear a bit ugly, with 5 to 6 solar energy panels for the collection of the energy of the sun.

However, this is the way of the future and so this is why new aesthetical designs have come on to the market. These have been designed to accomplish two purposes. The owner is not only given an opportunity to employ his solar energy panels as a cover for other items, but they also mesh well with a home’s appearance. A solar panel can be deployed in a number of ways, but they must be positioned to collect the optimal amount of sun available from that location.

The basic home is mixed with a new idea that is incredible, permitting the solar energy panel to collect energy and also act as part of the home, with these new designs. One such configuration looks just like a carport from the exterior. The solar energy panels are set up so they extend from the house above the auto parking area. The driver of the automobile can park his auto beneath the solar energy panels and they, in turn, give the auto protection from the elements.

The car is protected from the rain and snow, and the solar panel has a solid design which assists in supporting themselves, even under the snow’s weight. These solar panels contain a system for heat running through them. Any snow or ice, or moisture, will be turned into liquid by the heat, so that, no matter what the weather, the sun can pass through to the solar energy panels. Other systems include panels which will come out during dawn and can be retracted when the sun sinks. There are greenhouses that run completely off of solar power.

This can allow the heat to circulate inside the greenhouse, leading to healthy plant growth. The plants receive the solar electricity required to remain alive, from the sun, which is picked up above the greenhouse and is reflected down to them. This solar energy panel can only collect so much energy inside each cell then the residual daylight would go to the plants. The added benefit is the installation of these solar cells will cause the humidity to get collected within the hothouse and make allowance for the house to be hotter when the weather cools down.

All this put together does not take away from the assumption that the house is receiving clean energy that cost nothing apart from for the setup of the solar cells in the 1st place.
