Adding the Soulmate to the Rhythm of Life Through Online Dating

31 10 2009

Last year, I decided I want to find my soulmate online. I had avoided taking this drastic measure for several years but it seemed like everyone I know, including friends and co-workers, are signing on, creating profiles, and looking for love online.  If they can make it happen, why can’t I?

Looking for the Right Notes

Life, just like the notes on a sheet of music, is rhythmic.  The people themselves may change but at some stage you want to hear the full orchestra together.  I knew that when I could find my soulmate, the missing notes in my life would be found.  A soulmate adds to life’s rhythms but in a way that is enduring.

New to the world of internet dating, when I began finding my soulmate online I was hesitant to disclose information about myself. I wasn’t sure of how to draw the attention of people. Neither was I sure of how much to share about myself. I started searching for success stories of other users to find the answers to these problems. The material that came up through the search was very inspiring.

Out there though, I realized that I wasn’t the only skeptical first-timer. Cynderella met her current husband in a chat room. Being from a small town in a rural area, she did not have many dating options. Her friends suggested that like me, she should try internet dating.

IN just a week, Cynderella met MJ. She went through his profile after he first sent her an emoticon showing his interest in her. What she saw intrigued her and she responded. The month to follow was marked with emails and IMs shuttling back and forth between the two of them.  Finally, they took it to the next level and met offline.

As they lived in different states, Cynderella caught a flight to go and see MJ . Even while stepping off the plane she grew sure that she had finally found her perfect match. “I had been transformed, from being a nervous Nelly I was now a self-confident woman flying across the country to meet a man. Online dating really empowered me to take control of my life. Luckily I found my soul mate and we are now happily married…and living in the same state,” says Cynderella.  Though there were no glass slippers, the music was loud and clear.

Surprises That Make You Happy!

I came across Mark’s story when I was continuing the search for my soulmate. Mark was still in college when he met H2O. He was surfing the web with some friends when they stumbled upon  a banner for a dating site. In humour, they decided to take a look a the site.

Later on in the night Mark’s friends made a bet with him. They said they’d wash his athletic gear for a year if Mark could get a date on the online site within a month. Mark agreed to the bet.

He made his profile and started chatting with women, most of whom were highly offended by the bet but Mark continued to be honest for as he says “I wanted to be upfront about the bet so that it doesn’t become an issue later on”.

The end of the month was coming closer and Mark presumed that all was lost. He would be washing the gear for not only himself the rest of the year – he would also be washing his friends’ gear.

With two days to go Mark stumbled upon a profile that caught his attention. He wrote her an email, she responded immediately and before they knew it they were chatting the whole night. H2O lived in a nearby town and Mark set up a date to meet her at a local movie theater. The bet didn’t offend her. “She has a great sense of humor,” says Mark. “Within 6 months of having started dating we knew we never wanted to be without each other. She’s my fiancé now and we will be married in 2010.”

Loving the Music

While trying to find my soulmate I was led to great success stories, but it also showed me the problems you can face if you are not careful. Mad4You met a man on the internet who seemed perfect for her. She says, “I couldn’t believe that we had so much in common.” After chatting just a few times, Mad4You says she was “very attracted”. However an unexpected problem came up. “Just because a person tells you they are divorced from a previous spouse does not mean they are not married now!”

The number of single parents looking for love online was also quite revealing. Many singles say that single parents are often great matches. Ensure the compatibility of your kids, when looking for true love !

Yellowtutu found her ultimate man online. She was a single mother with 3 teenaged children. Digthis, in turn, had 2 sons from his previous marriage. She informed her children about him after having communicated with him for many months.

On the first date Yellowtutu’s eldest daughter fell head over heels for Digthis’s younger son. The attraction was mutual and they met secretly for over a year without letting their parents know. Mad4You and Digthis eventually realized they were not the perfect match and the kids told their story.

“Despite not working out for him and me, we still believe that the relationship was entirely worth it all. My daughter found her perfect match and they’ve been happily married for more than 3 years and also given us the 2 most beautiful grandchildren ever” says Yellowtutu.  It hit me then that anything can happen when you go online searching for your soulmate.

…yes life is filled with rhythm.  When I find my soulmate, or when you find yours, be sure to listen closely.  The music will swell and the notes will sound fuller.
