Effective Time Management is Necessary for Stress Management

Effective resource allocation can help you lead a more healthy life and render you more productive, with satisfactory work and relaxation time. Alternatively, poor time management can not only lead to poor productivity but also undue amounts of stress.

Activity records are one of the most important tools in time management. They help you utilize your time better, so that you can reduce time consumption on certain activities and eliminate time-wasting ones. In this fashion, you get extra time for work and your general efficiency increases.

Keeping a record of various activities will help you know the areas where you waste your time. You may just be whiling away browsing the web, traveling, reading mails, chatting and the like.

Record your activities for a few weeks and you would then come to know about the time wasted in the daily routine. You can reduce this by changing unpleasant habits. Sort thru your mails and divide it into categories including “read now” and “read later”. You will also notice that much of what you believe you must read later was not very important anyway. Furthermore, read your mail at the same time each day.

If you have several tasks to do inside a stipulated amount of time, make a checklist as you work on every one of them. Also, determine whether some of the tasks can be delegated to some other person who is not as overloaded with work as you and may help you with it.

Alternatively, negotiate with the people you are dealing with to see it they are prepared to offer you more time. As you consider your time utilization and your ability to deliver tasks, remember to leave emergency time for unexpected activities and for suitable teamwork.

You should learn to distinguish between where you are required to spend time and where you need to spend time and also whether you are required to do the task currently or whether the task needs to be done in the slightest. An efficient time manager should be able to answer these questions fast to make sure that time isn’t further wasted.

Time management takes practice. Ask this question during the day : “Is this what I want to to be doing right now?” If yes, then keep doing it.

Have a place for everything and put everything in its place. This will help you locate things more easily when you are looking for them. It will help you stay stress free.Such straightforward measures will help you save more minutes a day and even hours which will help you perform your task with more productivity.
