The effects of family problems towards depression

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

One of the biggest emotional problems that almost a lot of people experience is actually depression. There are many causes and also many reasons of depression.  Some of those reasons are a chemical imbalance in your body.  While others are caused by other issues.  One of those issues we are going to look at is family issues.

Family issues are a very traumatic problem when they occur. This is mostly due to the very fact that family indeed is such an intimate if not the closest part of our lives.  So when a problem within the family occurs it makes sense that it can cause problems like depression. This is one of the biggest reasons clients come see my in my depression counselor service.  Because it is very important to address any family problems as soon as possible.

Depending on what the family issue is will usually determine the right course of action that is basically needed to address the depression.  For example if it is a marital problem then counseling is a great way to try and resolve the depression.  When I get families with relationship problems in my family therapist San Diego practice I always try to get them into a regular counseling session. The depression aspect of it will definitely be addressed within these sessions.

Now if the problem gets worse and the fighting starts to escalate where the marriage is now in trouble, then definitely serious counseling is highly needed.  As a couples counseling San Diego practice what I try to do is try to have sessions with them. These sessions are purposefully designed to get to the root of the problem. The main goal is basically to find out what is key factor causing the issues then dealing directly with it.Simply because a lot of times the root of all the issues are not clearly understood.  Well a good counseling session can help resolve this.

So as mentioned depression is a very powerful emotion strong enough that can be very harmful.  And as mentioned in cases of family problems causing them, there are solutions.

Simple events that cause depression that need counseling

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

One of the hardest emotions to really deal with is dealing with depression.  It is difficult because everyone goes through depression at different times in life. But the depression we are actually talking about having a very high difficultly in dealing with is the serious depression.  Sometimes it is called clinical depression. If it is serious enough to need counseling, that is exactly the one that is difficult to determine. In this article we are going to search and discuss for all possible signs that you need depression counseling.

First of all, and as detailed earlier, everyone has some kind of fights of depression from time to time. But actually there are some kinds of events or activities that trigger a person or individual that goes too far. Sometimes, something that is extremely emotional makes it really hard for a person to eventually overcome depression. Emotional events like a death of someone so dear like a relative can actually trigger this type of depression. I see this a lot as a depression counselor. This usually takes place when a person really feels like it is their fault.

Now, specific causes of depression are basically not always similar for everyone. Something that doesn’t affect one person can really cause another one depression.  Sometimes though it can be a chemical reaction within the body.  This type of depression usually has to be dealt with using drugs.  There are times that I have to prescribe some sort of medication running a family therapist San Diego practice.I hate to do just that but however, sometimes if the depression is actually not coming from some event in life that is basically the only solution.

Then of course there are depression that comes from problems within the family.Usually, a married couple sometimes may begin having a really hard time getting along with each other especially with their differences.  This causes a rough time in their marriage.  I see this type of depression a lot doing couples counseling San Diego. This type or kind of depression can actually be overcome if the couple is willing enough to try to work things out.

Depression is absolutely a serious emotion that really needs to be addressed as you can definitely see. Hopefully this will help you to determine when a person needs to seek counseling.

What are the signs that says you already need help for your depression

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

We, people, experience depression at one point in our lives. We experience many problems during our lifetime that is why it is but natural to feel depressed at times. But there are cases of depression where it really gets very serious. That would be the right time to seek help for these people.Because the effects can be devastating if the depression gets worse. That is why in this article we are going to talk about the signs on how to know when to seek help for a depression.

First of all as mentioned earlier we all fall into depression at different times in our lives.Problems in marriage or relationship can cause depression.Or the loss of a loved one can also be the cause of it.  The reasons for depression that I see in my depression counselor practice varies so much. But depression is a serious problem that is why it is important to know when to seek help.

You would know that a person already needs help if he/she is already depressed for a long time now.Someone would need counseling already if you can notice that he/she is already depressed for days already.Or another case is if someone has already withdrawn from socializing with other people. As a family therapist San Diego I have seen all these symptoms. If you know someone who has been depressed for a long time already then you should help them by seeking help for them.

The reason you want to seek help is because often times a depressed person may hurt themselves if left to themselves. But they can also hurt other people and that is the more important reason. Usually this happens when the depression turns to anger. Sometimes a person feels so depressed and helpless they get angry.  That is when I use my anger management counseling services to help them.Because anger can already hurt others and that can be very dangerous.

So as you can see depression is a serious condition. You must act fast if you know someone close to you that has been depressed for a time now.Their lives or other lives could be in danger.

Why you should attend to your depression seriously

Monday, November 16th, 2009

One thing everyone goes through is times when they don’t feel that great. But there are times when these can turn into depression. This happens to a lot of people and this is not unusual.  But there are times when it does get too serious and needs to be treated.  In this article we are going to look at why you have to treat depression seriously.

So first of all let us understand what depression is.Depression is usually caused by some circumstances.  I have seen many causes of depression in my depression counselor service. It may be caused by the loss of a loved one or being laid off at work. Those are some of the usual reasons of a depression but it can be also due to a chemical imbalance. That would be the case when medicine is usually needed.

But you also have to take seriously the depression caused by natural reasons. There will be a time when you do not want it to worsen anymore.Because when it becomes worse the person might hurt himself/herself already. As a family therapist San Diego practice I see those instances when it does get too bad.I have witnessed some cases where they can already hurt themselves. That is the reason why you may want to seek help for someone you know that has been depressed for a while now.

Also if it goes on for some time it can venture over into anger.  If depression turns to anger you have to worry about them hurting other people. But the usual problem of depression is that the person can hurt himself/herself.But once it turns to anger they can already hurt others.  That is what we see happen in my anger management counseling service. That would be the right time for them to get help.

As you can see if depression goes on too long you need to seek help.Depression is a normal affliction of people from time to time but once it gets serious it can hurt other people.

Curing depression through the help of counseling

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Depression is one of the most problematic emotions that a human can have. If you have ever experienced it you know it isn’t a fun thing to go through. And it would be worse when the depression becomes more serious. It may be due to a traumatic happening in a person’s life.  It can be due to a loss of a loved one.Other things may also cause it.  But the key is to understand when you have to seek help.

Now the help I am talking about is using a depression counselor sevice to help. You would need one already when things in your life are being affected already. When your job is affected already is an example fo this.Or when your social skills are also being affected.Depression can hurt even the afflicted person themselves and that is why counseling is important. And it is very hard to know when they have reached that point already. That is why counseling is needed.

Another problem with depression is where it leads to anger. Sometimes depression is where a person feels like there is a part of their life out of their control. If that happens they would feel angry at the world for whatever reason.  This is when they would need anger management counseling services.Because you do not want a depression case to develop into chronic anger. That is the time when other people can get hurt by teh afflicted person and he/ she can hurt himself, herself too.

If these are your situations you need to seek counseling. Because counseling can help a person through the situation. With my family therapist San Diego service I try to help people in this area. What they need sometimes is a person who can understand them.To overcome their depression this is what they need sometimes.

As you can see depression is a serious emotional problem.  If left to itself it has bad consequences.Undergoing counseling would help one to overcome those things.

Advice on how to control one’s anger

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

One of the things that everybody experiences is anger.  Everyone loses their control over their emotions at some point in their lives. It is but natural to happen. What is bad about it is when they already can’t control their anger. That would be the time when you could harm someone close to you.It can hurt someone emotionally and physically.Knowing that it could affect other people here are some tips in controlling your anger.

Controlling one’s anger is difficult to do.  That is why my anger management San Diego practice gets so many people with anger issues. But there is still hope.Even if it seems like it is uncontrollable there are ways to control it.First thing you can do is to admit that you are undergoing stress.Stress is one of the causes of uncontrollable anger.  By being aware of stress you can be better prepared to respond to situations that could lead to anger.

Another way you can cope with anger is to learn how to respond and not to react.  It is one of the biggest techniques I teach for my family therapist San Diego practice. What I mean by that is that you should think first before reacting to something.By thinking first about how you would react would lead to a better response. So that you won’t be reacting violently.

Another thing that causes anger is depression.More often than not, people affected with depression becomes angry most of the time.It causes anger because a depressed person feels like he or she is useless.  I see this all the time doing depression counseling. So you fight this by addressing the situation that is causing depression.

If you follow these few tips it should help you deal with any anger problems. Anger is a hard emotion to control. That is why a lot of people suffer from anger issues.  But by understanding your problems you can begin to fight those emotions. And in doing so, you will not let anger hurt you or your loved ones.

Bad things that anger and depression can do to families

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

One of the things that hurts sometimes or is enjoyable at other times is emotions.Emotions like love, joy, happiness are wonderful and good. But you also have emotions like anger, sadness, and depression.  Emotions also, but something hard to handle at times.People are able to control it most of the time. But there can be situations which make these emotions dangerous.

For example, depression is a tough situation to get out of.It may be caused by some tragic or traumatic event in one’s life.Losing one’s family member to an accident or natural death can trigger it.  Or sometimes it can be a chemical imbalance.  One dangerous emotion that happened in the news is when a man whose depression turned to anger. His situation is hopeless and that is the reason why his depression became anger. He was enraged, went berserk, and he hurt some people along the way. That is an isolated and extreme case but it does happen.  That is why as a depression counselor I try to tackle the problem head on before it can turn into anger.

Well the times it does turn into anger then you have to move into another form of counseling.  And that form is anger management counseling help.Because not like depression where the affected person is always in a passive mood.  Anger can lash out at others and harm others.  So if a person is experiencing anger one needs to deal with it immediately before it gets any worse.

Of course in my family therapist San Diego practice I see a full range of emotions.I usually see it when it is already affecting the family. That is when counselings are needed the most. One thing that you wouldn’t and should not want to happen to your family is let it be ripped apart because of uncontrollable emotons. And the goal of every counselor is to stop it while it is still in its early stages.  A good thoughtful counseling program can do that and save many families. It has happened in the past and will still happen with the help of good counseling.

How anger management helps family life

Monday, September 7th, 2009

One thing people have in common is enotions. Some people tend to display more of these emotions just like an extrovert. Some emotions can be good when displayed like happiness.  Some people show emotions of excitement and happiness.Other people show anger and sadness more. All people have emotions and they usually express it but sometimes they get out of hand. Anger is one of these emotions.

As you shall see in this article anger can have horrible effects on family life. In my practice doing anger management in San Diego I have seen the effects it can have on a family. It could be very uncomfortable if you live with that person. It makes everybody nervous and afraid to say something because they might get scolded. It can turn what is supposed to be a place of safety into a negative place. That place of safety is home life.

One of the strange things is that a few times this anger stems from a depression of some sort. Whatever reason there is this person might be in a depressed state. Once they find they don’t see a way out of it often times that depression can turn into anger. That is why I advice everyone feeling depression to seek a depression counselor. The best way is to stop something before it gets worse. After all it might not lead to anger but maybe to something worse where they hurt themselves.

Whatever the case may be these two emotions should be dealt with seriously. If you let either keep going it can get worse. It can ruin your family. It can ruin relationships.  Being a family therapist in San Diego I stress the importance of good relationships in family life. So I stress to my readers that emotional issues should be dealt with asap. Sometimes it is hard to go to someone for help. But often times this can stop anything worse from happening.

How anger management helps family life

Monday, September 7th, 2009

One thing that all people have is their emotions. Some people have the tendency to display more of their emtions in public. Some emotions are good for a person especially when displayed like happiness. Some people display emotions such as happiness and excitement and laughter.Other people show anger and sadness more. All people have emotions and they usually express it but sometimes they get out of hand. Emotions like anger belong to these category.

As you have read in this article anger can be dangerous and detrimental to family life. In my practice doing anger management in San Diego I have seen the effects it can have on a family. It could be very uncomfortable if you live with that person. It makes everyone around the person afraid and be aloof with that person. It make a place of safety into something that is negative. The place of safety I’m referring to is our homes.

One of the strange things is that a few times this anger stems from a depression of some sort. Whatever the case may be a person might be in a depressed mode. Once they do not see a solution to a problem most of the time it leads to anger. That is why I advice everyone feeling depression to seek a depression counselor. It is best to stop something before it escalates into a bigger problem which is harder to solve. Because sometimes it just does not lead into anger but into something where they eventually hurt themselves.

Either way these two emotions whether they stem from each other have to be dealt with. If you let these two emotions eat your personality then it will definitely get worse for you and your family. It will destroy your relationship with your family. It can destroy relationships.  Being a family therapist in San Diego I stress the importance of good relationships in family life. So I stress to you that any kind of emotional issues be dealt with immediately. It can be hard to decide to seek help in someone you don’t know sometimes. But this can be very helpful in the long especially for the family of and the person affected.

Difficult emotions to deal with, depression and anger

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Depression and anger are both negative emotions.  But they seemingly are still on opposite ends of the spectrum.  One of the emotions can be very visible. While the other emotion is unnoticeable.

As a family therapist San Diego I have seen both emotions. Both cases need to be attended by an expert if it is already serious. These are not problems which someone can just ignore. In the case of anger you can hurt other people.  In the case of depression you can harm yourself.

So let’s take a look at anger first. Anger is a volatile emotion. It is natural and it happens to all of us.But people sometimes release all their pent up anger.  Sometimes it seems uncontrollable.  And if you let it get away from you, it can be.  But it is at those times when you need to get it under control.  Anger can hurt other people physically as well emotionally.  If it gets too much you need to seek some anger management counseling.

The next one is depression.  It is somewhat not as noticeable. The main reason is because most people hold in their depression. But it will get noticed eventually. When it becomes noticeable, then that would be the time that someone have to seek professional help.  Why would someone need professional help?  Because a person severly depressed can do harm to themselves.People hide it that’s why it is or can be dangerous.  If a person gets to the point of severe depression they need professional help such as depression counseling.

When dealing with emotional problems it is hard. Most of the people affected by these problems think they can solve it on their own.Or they feel like they can solve their problems on their own.But at that point they need all the help they can get.It is not a problem which they can accept that easily. But if you are dealing with these kinds of emotions which can be dangerous to the patient and others then you have to.
