With the credit crunch now a world wide reality, everyone is looking as ways they can save a few dollars here and there. The subject of energy bills has not doubt been raised during these discussions. Wouldn’t you love to stop giving the energy company so much money each month? Seeing the huge profits that these energy companies make each month does not help you when you have to had over a large chunk of your hard earned salary every.

Imagine, having all the energy you desired and still having money in your pocket. How would that make you feel? Well here it is – home solar power systems. It could be just what you need. Now hear me out, I haven’t gone completely crazy (Not yet anyway!). Solar power was once considered a very expensive, techy alternative way to creating your own power. This is no longer true. Solar power technology has advanced so much that it is now a much more economic way to make your own power. Yes, some of the systems which are more bigger and complex may be expensive to set-up but once you have paid for them the savings that you can then expect each month and each year will be quite substantial meaning your energy bills will be dramatically reduced if not completely eliminated.

Harnessing energy from the sun is essentially what solar power is. Solar panels are photovoltaic cells, laminated between glass and fixed to a back-sheet. They are then placed into a rigid frame. The panels are attached to your house, mainly on the roof. In order to capture as much sunlight as possible the are placed facing either south east or south west. The resulting energy captured by the cells is then used as electricity to power the needs of your home or it is stored in batteries for later use.

As well as making a huge difference to your home energy bills this simple system will also make a huge difference to your environmental impact on the planet due to the fact no emissions are produced by solar power. Lets not forget we all need to become a little more environmentally aware.
