Imagine Learning French Online

November 25, 2010

Many people try to put off learning French because the prospect is just too overpowering. You don’t have time to go to college, textbooks are uninteresting, and those audiotapes in your car are just not for you. Well, how about learning French online?

After all, there’s not much difference between learning French online and the way you first learned English. Small children play with language because it’s fun, and they’re not afraid to strike out and make a mistake. When you learn French online, you set the pace of your own learning, and no one cares if you mess up once in a while.

And no university class will ever be as convenient as learning French online. Why would you want the stress and hassles of attending a brick-and-mortar college when you can learn French online at home? The right online program can give you everything you’d gain from a university French course without ever changing out of your pajamas!

Isn’t just getting a textbook and a set of CDs better? A textbook won’t be able to teach you the sound of a living language like French. Audio CDs are a bit better, but limiting yourself to repeating dialogue after dialogue can get pretty dull.

What factors should influence your choice of a language program?
Good audio is key, and so is a transcript of the dialogues. If you get bored easily, make sure to look for a program that engages your competitive instincts while you learn French online. Look for online language programs that offer skill-building video games – they’ll keep your interest level high.

But wouldn’t you enjoy studying with other students more than studying alone? You’ll find that the best online language programs offer their students access to a learner’s forum that will provide all the companionship and assistance of a regular classroom. People who don’t use social networking sites or whose computer experience is limited may have a hard time imagining how fast online friendships form. But give it a try, and you’ll find the Internet to be a wonderful place to meet people who share your interests. You’ll discover that learning French online beats sitting in a classroom every time!

Learning French online will give you a great sense of accomplishment, but most of all, it’s really fun – try it and see!
