The Power of a Business Database

When talking about making money, it is important to remember that prospecting for new clients is a necessity.  Today we are going to look at how to use the power of a business database to help us accomplish that goal.

A business database is a database of businesses.  There are many out there, and can range anywhere from $50 to thousands of dollars.  Most are pretty similar, and the link above will take you to the most cost efficient one I am aware of on the internet (sells for $50).  What these databases will do is to give you contact information for millions of businesses in the USA.

With that contact information and the various searchability functions of a simple excel spreadsheet, you can target your customers with a number of marketing tools.  One of the oldest and still used today methods is with direct mailing.

Direct mailing is just that, mailing direct to your propspects.  The great thing about using a business database to start with is the ease of making this work for you.  There are numerous direct mailing companies on the internet that will create and mail postcards, letters, packages, you name it, they will do it for you.

The beauty of starting with a company database is that you simply sort and upload your target customers to your direct mail provider of choice.  They do the design and send your materials out, often times for much less than you could do yourself on your home computer.  Additionally, the quality is very high.

For basically the cost of a stamp, you have professionally designed and printed material being sent out, targeting the exact demographic that you choose for your business.  By investing in a business database, you can have all of this up, running and out in the mail before this week is out.

If you are looking for a very cost effective way to prospect for your business, consider investing in a business database and trying some direct mail.  Good luck!
