Hot flashes and weight gain caused by menopause.

In the past, women have had very few choices about how to treat menopause.  Doctors have traditionally offered hormone replacement therapy as a logical treatment for the symptoms.  However, in today’s world there are other alternative treatments that are popular in regards to menopause.  These treatments are a little more natural and are often effective.  Take a look at some of these treatments to see if they would possibly work for you.

Herbs have been used since the beginning of time by many different groups of people.  They are still widely used in the non-Western world and they are becoming more and more common in the West these days.  Studies show that herbs are very effective at controlling the symptoms associated with menopause.  Black cohosh is widely used for menopause caused hot flashes while St. John’s Wart is an extremely popular herb for anxiety.  Some have found that vitamins used in higher doses can help ease the symptoms of menopause.  At different times in your life, your body will naturally lack different vitamins.  Soy also has many different benefits for the body.  It has been shown to lower blood pressure and help stimulate disease preventing antibodies.  Soy has also been known to help prevent hot flashes in women going through menopause.

Diet is also extremely important.  During this time even though it seems you are gaining weight from menopause, your body still needs to get proper nutrition.  It is best to stick with as many fruits, vegetables, and grains as you can and stay away from fats and red meats.  Although many of these natural alternative treatments work for women going through menopause, some may still need hormone replacement therapy.  The best way to decide is to talk with your doctor about the best treatment plans for you.
