You have to care at least about one of these two things to start eating organic meats: your health or the environment. There is less deforestation, a lower annual consume of grains and more ethically correct methods to grow the livestock. Consider the following advantages specific to organic meats.
No antibiotics, hormones or other artificial drugs are allowed for animals grown organically. Moreover, legislation forbids that livestock from organic farms be fed on genetically modified foods. Organic meats therefore bring purer nutrients because of what the animals eat and how they are treated in farms. Hence, organic meats are a lot safer as compared to the non-organic products.
For instance, it seems that the mad cow disease appeared because of bovines being fed on the ground remains of their own species. The disease affects humans who consume contaminated meat, the same symptoms will also be present in the human form of the disease. Organic meats result from animals that are not fed on any form of ground up animal parts and therefore pose almost no risk of infestation.
The treatment of the animals is also important for the quality of organic foods. In factory farms, animals are kept in very small pens lacking the possibility to move and being crammed together permanently. Animals grown on organic farms are allowed to graze and range without too much confinement. This means that the organic meats produced on such farms have all the positive properties resulting from a natural fresh diet.
The consume of organic meats also encourages the reduction of manure accumulation, since this is one of the major pollution concerns specific to large farms. Industrial farms represent some of the largest polluting agents; on the other hand, small farms use the manure to fertilize the soil and thus enter it in a natural circuit that is totally harmless.
Buy organic meats from local farms or organic stores that sell a diversity of products that should provide something for any user. You can choose from chicken, pork, beef or veal that are not exposed to chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers. With organic meats you won’t have the problem of being exposed to chemical residues that are often encountered with regular meats. A good health seems closely connected with an organic diet!
