Currently, the Navy uses nuclear energy as one of its fuel sources. This has been going on for at least 40 years. Hence, with no accidents, incidents or problems that affect public health and safety (from the Navy!) it is the safest energy source for us to use.
HOWEVER, the solar industry is set to make an addendum where environmental conditions permit. There is significant merit to use solar energy where feasible or augment existing power sources.
