When you investigate products, you spend way to much time browsing the net for the best faucet water filter. I understand, when I looked up information about a faucet filter I was amazed at the specification differences I found. Because of the differences I thought it would be good to give you a head start list of the top 3 things to look out for when looking for the best faucet water filter.

#1 – What contaminates are eliminated
I was amazed to find out that filters are not built to the same standard. I researched products from 10 different faucet filter companies. On each companies websites there is technical specification on all the different contaminates their filters will remove. I assumed that all filters were very much the same but I found out they are not. The number of contaminates that are each water filter eliminates is astounding, even though the faucet water filter cost are all about the same. Some units remove the basics like chlorine and lead. best faucet water filters also remove up to 10 different contaminates from Cysts to Benzene.

#2 – Filter effectiveness

This is another thing I was amazed to find out was an issue. You can take two filters that at first blush remove the same contaminates but there effectiveness will be all over the map. For example lets looks at an element that would seem easy to remove, Chlorine. I compared the top 10 filters and the percent of contaminate removal ranged from 75% to 99%. Pretty astounding, In fact this wide difference is the same for the different contaminates you would like removed from their drinking water.

#3 – Cost per Gallon

A faucet filter can be a significant investment, so you’ll want to check out the cost to operate one. There are two basic cost measurements you will find quoted, they are “cost per 1000 gallons” and “cost per gallon”. These two measures gives us a benchmark that we can use to compare the on-going cost of different water filters. Here again the costs are at both ends of the spectrum, and they don’t seem to correlate with the effectiveness or numbers of contaminates removed. I found on a “cost per gallon” basis a range of 9.8 to 25 cents per gallon. This means some filters cost almost 3 times more to operate but they don’t always provide 3 times cleaner water.

The balls now in your court, I’ve laid out for you 3 specific things to consider when you pick on the best faucet water filter. Take these 3 faucet filter ideas and start your own research, you will be amazed at the difference between all of the water filters you study. I’m sure this will help lead you to to the best faucet water filter for you.

I can’t believe how unsafe tap water is. If you care about your health and protecting yourself from disease, you need to consider investing in a drinking water treatment system. With today’s technology should not be an option.

The problem is that not all systems out there are effective at removing drinking water contamination. You should know what to avoid and what to look for when shopping for water treatment system When choosing the best system keeps these 3 things in mind.

1.) Make sure any drinking water treatment system you purchase is effective at removing both synthetic and organic chemicals. Reverse osmosis and distillation systems only remove one or the other effectively and must be used along side carbon filter. To avoid this problem altogether, your best bet is to use a carbon filter in the first place. Home water treatment systems are only effective at removing both organic and synthetic chemicals when they have carbon filters.

2.) Drinking water contamination isn’t all that you need to worry about it. In fact, showering in tap water can be even more dangerous than just drinking it. When you shower your body absorbs not only the water but also the chemicals in the water. Shower steam is also dangerous because it Carries the contaminants that are in the tap water. To protect yourself from all kinds of exposure to the contaminants in tap water, invest in either a whole house filter or both a counter top or under sink filter in your kitchen and a shower filter.

3.) Avoid drinking water treatment systems that de-mineralize tap water. These trace minerals such as calcium and potassium are essential for good health. If you avoid drinking water without these minerals and it you could be heading for a mineral deficiency. So only drink water that has had the contaminants removed and the minerals left in. Once again, only carbon filters will remove the contaminants and leave the minerals.

If you follow these three tips you will find a good water treatment system. Drinking water contamination will make you unhealthy in the long run.

For the best results, you should get a drinking water treatment system for your entire home. Click here to learn more about these systems.
